In 2005 the Antillean Brewery, centrally based on Curaçao, stopped brewing Amstel Beer. Soon afterwards the brewery was shut down, allowing extensive rezoning and full redevelopment of the area.

 

Heren2 will redevelop the whole former Amstel grounds in the coming years. The Amstel redevelopment aims to fully rezone the 53,000 sq m area, thus creating possibilities for various office buildings. Special attention will be given to the relocation of Aqualectra and UTS to this area. Aqualectra is the local utility company responsible for production and distribution of both water and electricity across Curaçao. UTS is the local telecommunications company.

 

Aqualectra will not only move its head office to the new Amstel development, but also establish its new nerve centre on this site. From this operational centre all networks and activities pertaining to water and electricity production and distribution will be managed.

 

UTS will concentrate all of its activities on the former Amstel grounds. Currently, activities are scattered across various locations on this beautiful island.
