The first contours of the redevelopment of the Houthavens are already visible. A number of companies including Dedato (architects), The Hilt, Barts (both clothing) and Hot Item (software) are housed at this location. The redevelopment of this area is based on the Draft Local Development Framework and the Stadhaven Minerva Visual Quality Plan. Key focus points in these plans are the area's relationship to the water and maintaining its industrial character. All buildings are designed and constructed independently, with a slightly different footage. The maximum height is 21 metres, except at the head of the area, where a 60-metre high hotel is projected.
The programme consists of approximately 120,000 sq m of creative activity. Private parking spaces will be realised on every plot. Asides from being a functional business area, the Houthavens should become a pleasant recreational area for workers as well as future residents of the adjacent area. To this aim, public spaces will be designed in a sustainable, high-quality manner, including patches of green and stylish street furniture.
